Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) is a proud winner of the Global Mercatus Awards
What is a Mercatus Award?
The Global Mercatus Award is a prestigious internal SABMiller acknowledgement of extraordinary performance in the field of marketing. Selected businesses are requested to submit their case studies for adjudication from a regional basis culminating to a global stage. In 2011 a record number of 54 entries were received from across the globe. Maluti Mountain Brewery was honoured to show case our Maluti Premium Lager against the world’s best.
How is it measured?
Only the top performing brands are selected to compete and are divided into their respective categories ranging from the affordable, right through to the top echelons of premium. The exciting and sometimes arduous journey that brands are required to navigate through on the road to success is put under strict scrutiny. The process follows elimination from stage to stage as your brand earns the “right of passage” to move up. At the regional stage, Our Proudly Lesotho Premium Lager had to go “toe to toe” with strong competition from Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Tanzania. As we left the African stage and entered the Global arena, Maluti was put to the test once again competing against brands from North and South America plus contenders from Europe, Asia and Australia.
How did we fare?
Maluti Premium Lager came out victorious against the best in the world. The entry from Lesotho with Maluti Premium Lager was one of only two from the Africa hub that won the prestigious award. The winning submissions in Maluti’s category were picked from a global compliment of 14 entries, 3 from Africa, 2 from Asia, 3 from Europe, 2 from RSA, 2 from Latin America and 2 from the USA. In other categories winners were case studies from China, USA, Honduras, South Africa, India, Tanzania, Slovakia, Checz Republic, El Salvador and Hungary.
A true David and Goliath tale!
Maluti Mountain Brewery would like to thank all our loyal Maluti consumers, customers, stakeholders and staff members for their dedication, hard work and belief in Maluti Premium Lager, our National treasure. The Maluti story is both emotional and compelling, the brand will continue to grow and prosper, not only in volumes but also in the heart and minds of the Basotho nation.
MMB was proud to send a delegation to the UK on the 10th -12th April 2012 to receive the award on behalf of Lesotho.
