MASERU- Stephen Monyamane, the Director for OSHEM C was awarded an International Star for Leadership in Quality Award in the Gold category in Geneva, Switzerland recently by Business Initiative Directions – a leading private organisation awarding companies world wide.
Monyamane said International Star for Leadership in Quality Convention was held in Paris, France where his company was amongst companies that were to receive the awards but he failed to attend the conference.
In past years, Monyamane said B.I.D. awards have contributed advantages to a lot of companies both in media attention and technical advantages of quality implementation.
He continued: “B.I.D. has awarded the International Star for Leadership in Quality Award in the Gold category to my company on the basis of a voting process carried out among all the participating former awardees. The voting process is confidential, in that the exact source of nomination of your company cannot be revealed.”
The final decision to award your company, Monyamane said, made by the International Star for Leadership in Quality Selection Committee was based on the criteria of the principles of the QC100 TQM: customer satisfaction, communication strategies, benchmarking, information and data analysis, planning and decision making.
“Human Resources, Continuing Education and Training as well as business communication, formed by engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and private information sources, such as the media are also considered for selection.”
He said the presentation of the award to companies in Paris in recognition of achievements in the realm of quality culture creates a natural platform for broadcasting the news of the company's position as a leader in its community and sector.
“The graphic material obtained by photo journalists and through the presentations of quality models and company profiles of those companies choosing that option, will be made available for press and media publication and can be featured in one of the 26 publications associated with the ISLQ International Star for Leadership in Quality Award,” said Monyamane.
“Another of the primary benefits to be awarded companies is the renewal of quality commitment through the QC100 TQM associated with the award and the sharing of quality culture internally and externally both through publicizing the news and the transmission of the values of quality management within the company. “
He pointed out that the conference constituted a moment of public recognition of attending companies’ success saying that the event was attended by distinguished business representatives from all over the world, members of the media and diplomatic corps, and experts in public relations and corporate image.
Monyamane said companies awarded are composed of large and medium corporations, organizations and professionals belonging to various sectors including insurance, banking, aviation, automobile and heavy vehicle manufacturing.
He said his company advocates for safety and health of people at workplaces and has carried a lot of researches in both Lesotho and South Africa.
Companies awarded in the past by B.I.D., he said, share the privilege and honour of participating in the voting process for future ceremonies. “At the same time, these companies are the best examples.”
