CHAL, NHTC tutors acquire training skills PDF Print E-mail

TEYATEYANENG-The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) in collaboration with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) held a five day forum of Evaluation and Monitoring (E&M) of HIV and AIDS prevalence rate in Lesotho.

The specific beneficiaries of the forum were Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) and National Health Training College (NHTC) tutors.

Palesa Moejane, a facilitator of the workshop from Institute of Health Measurement, a non governmental organisation funded President Emergency Plan for Aids Response (PEPFA) said her institute supports MoHSW with technical support in a fight against HIV and AIDS in Lesotho.

MASERU-The Bureau of Statistics (BOS) last week held a two-day forum with the aim of presenting the dissemination of 2009/2010 agricultural census and community profile.

The Director of BOS, Liengoane Lefosa said the aim of the dissemination was to monitor achievement in the implementation of key priorities indicators of the country and to inform policy makers in government.

US awards M400, 000 grants to self-help projects PDF Print E-mail

MASERU-The US ambassador to Lesotho, Michele Thoren Bond awarded grants to nine successful projects last week Thursday.

The grants are worth $50.000 (about M400, 000).

Michele said the money comes from Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund which aims to bring a visible change to Basotho communities.

MASERU–Lesotho made a landmark last week when the first person ever in the country was sentenced for Human Trafficking since the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act was passed in January 2011. A 42 year-old Chinese male, Zheng Shuxien, was sentenced to 15 years imprison without an option of fine for human trafficking.
